本周三多伦多公校教育局（TDSB）董事会会议上透露，多伦多有130所学校存在生源不足问题，学生注册率在65%以下。
其中涉及84所小学和46所高中可能要关闭。
在本月初，多伦多公校教育局发布的一份报告措辞严厉，安省教育厅长单杜丝（Liz Sandals）说，未充分利用学校资源是浪费安省纳税人的钱。
安省教育厅目前有120亿加元的赤字，目前正在寻找哪些地方可以省钱。
多伦多公校教育局董事会正面临越来越大的压力，从全省出售其多余的资产。各董事已下令拿出一个可行性计划，但关闭学生人数太少的学校，家长们意见很大。
不断减少的新生令这130所学校只能有65%的入学率，部分学校甚至只有不到10名学生。
